Mission Impossible?
I should have done laundry on Saturday, but I didn't so I went to do it yesterday and I had a load in the wash and the nest load ready to go in and I closed the door hoping that Emma wouldn't open the door and play with the knobs on the washer. Anyway, I went to change loads and the door knob was locked.... This is interesting because there is no lock on the door knob, it just wouldn't open. There weren't any screws to take the knob apart from the side of the door I was on. Luckily, the laundry room doubles as a back entrance. However, we do not have steps leading up to the door because it is on the back side of our trailer, which is in our neighbours yard so we just never use it and it is our emergency exit. I couldn't climb up and reach the door so I had to wait for Jon to come home and be my hero. His only regrets were that there wasn't any music playing and that we didn't have little radios to communicate with eachother. I just hope that the same thing doesn't happen in a different room, especially my pantry where nearly all of our food is kept!

Fun With Dad
Is it really any wonder why Emma can hardly wait for Jon to get home? Don't worry though he is very careful with our children (note the protective gear). She had the time of her life and the whole next day she was dragging her teddy bears and dolly around in the laundry basket. She can hardly stand the long wait for Jon to come home to swing in a blanket, go for a ride in a laundry hamper, crash on the bed or couch, or get thrown in the air, or spin around as fast as Jon can go. She is always game for an adventure. I'd say she take after her dad just a little bit.
Here is Chris at my mom and dad's for his birthday. I think he liked the ride for the most part, he was only scared for part of the ride. The part where we were stopped he really enjoyed!

Happy Birthday!
So today is Christopher's first birthday and his appitite is growing almost as fast as he is. For lunch he easily polishes off an enire grilled cheese sandwich, milk, vegies and some fruit for dessert. Not even Emma can pull that off, well once in a while she can, but not often. He's getting into everything as fast as can be. He's learned to be really quick. He has to beat Emma if he wants something. These guys are best friends and worst enemies all at the same time. Their favorite thing to do right now is to slide down a carseat box that Emma fixed up as a slide by climbing on it and squishing it. Chris took a few steps all by himself on Sunday so I'm afraid it won't be long now before he's running full tilt! This first picture is of Chris yesterday, just after his first haircut. Do you see how long it was before? Yikes!
And of course ... the famous box slide

The Kids
So since I am on here I thought that I might as well take the opportunity to put up some pictures of Emma and Chris. We're trying to get ready for church and Emma decided that she wanted to brush Chris's hair... oh boy.
Our Week Off
Anyway, Jon and I took off to the mountains and left our kids with my parents (horray!!) for a little vacation. We traveled through Jasper and into Banff. So beautiful. We stopped at the Maligne Canyon in Jasper and walked down through the canyon itself, since it was all frozen over. What an amazing experience. I still find it hard to believe that the waterfalls were able to freeze like they did. Some of the falls were starting to melt when we went, what a beautiful scene. There was a real photographer there taking the most beautiful picture. I desperately wanted the same shot but I thought it would be rude to take it while he was there so I got a different angle. The power of water is really something to behold.
Of course, Jon being the crazy adventurous one of the two of us tries to scale a waterfall. Luckily he didn't get too wet, it was just the beginning of our travels.
Afterwards, Jon and I travelled to our destination, Banff where we snowboarded Sunshine, Lake Louise and Mt. Norquay. I loved it. I hadn't been boarding since we were newly married and as a result I was incredibly sore after the first day. I must say that I was not the only one however... Such fun. It was a really nice break and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed not changing diapers or making bottles for a few days.

Sucker for punishment
Okay, so I may have fallen in love with yoga last night (or maybe hate, we'll have to see). It was my first experience with it and I must say that I have a new respect for yoga enthusiasts. Incredible, well at least incredibly painful. Who new that my hamstrings were sooo tight!! Ahhh. It makes me hurt just thinking about it. And the hole thing is that you are supposed to be relaxed, meditating. Are you kidding me?? Most of the time all I could do was draw parallels between yoga and labour and delivery. ouch. Okay maybe it wasn't exactly that bad but it was pretty incredible. I would love to go to classes but they are in the middle of the day with no childcare available so that doesn't work so I may just borrow videos from the library and do it in the evenings. So anyway that is my new exciting experience, which despite the pain I actually would enjoy doing. Sucker for punishment? maybe.

Twas the week before Christmas...
... and all through the house, people were screaming. Yes, even the mouse. Stockings weren't hung by the chimney with care because we all know St. Nicoholas isn't going there!
Just kidding.
I do love my family dearly and I can't wait to see you all at Christmas. Emma is up to her usual growing up business. You know... the usual... taking the cheese out of the fridge, getting a knife and cutting herself a little slice to take the edge off; drinking from the tap in the bathroom; giving herself baths in the sink; basically running around causing chaos everywhere she goes.
We went shopping at the mall, Emma upon seeing shoes hops out of her stroller, promptly puts on a pair of shoes and grabs her favorite purse off the wall and goes for a stroll around the store, apparently having the time of her life. Christopher, on the other hand, quietly sits in his car seat looking around and is having the time of his life.
